The game farm "Bouwersfontein" stretches over 3500 hectares and is located in a conservation area of 40 000 hectares in the Cape Karoo, a semi-arid region in South Africa. The Karoo with its harsh plains has been inhabited for over 500 000 years and is one of the world's most unique arid zones which have inspired poets, artists, authors and photographers throughout the centuries. The name originated from the original Khoi word, Karus, meaning dry, barren, thirsty land. Bouwersfontein remains greatly untouched and is home to game animals including Springbuck, Gems Buck, Zebra, Bles Buck, Kudu, Rooiribbok, Red Hartebeest, Black Wildebeest, Duiker and Steenbuck. Perimeter fencing of adjacent farms allow kudus to scale with ease and roam freely, contributing to a unique hunting experience.
