1982 Winchester Model 70 Transition 270 W.C.F Rifl, 1982 Winchester Model 70 Transition 270 W.C.F Rifle Description: This Winchester Model 70 "Transitional Model" was made in 1982. It is chambered in .270 W.C.F. - This is one of the rarest variations of the pre-64 Mod.70, and it is now becoming difficult to find such a well-preserved sample. The Transitional model 70s were built for only about 2 years, soon after WW II. They used the cloverleaf receiver and changed the safety lever to be more scope-friendly. Because of this, receivers were drilled and tapped to facilitate mounting a rifle scope. The barrel is straight and true, with an excellent bore. Most transitional models retained the full oval grip that was later made more simple to make them easier to produce. This one has a Lyman 57 WJS receiver sight that requires no alteration to the stock and is fully adjustable. The front snd rear sights are original to the rifle. The bolt is numbered to the receiver. Browning Model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine, Browning Model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine in 45-70. This carbine was manufactured by Miroku in 1992/93. It is chambered in 45-70 and has a blue 22" round barrel and full magazine held together with a carbine barrel band. It has blue finished action and has standard straight grained walnut stocks, with a blue steel carbine butt plate. Condition: The overall condition of this Browning carbine is fine to excellent. The barrel and magazine tube retain perhaps 95% blue showing one small ding at the muzzle and some scattered staining, the markings remain sharp and crisp. The action retains about 98% original blue showing some light staining predominantly along the right near the loading gate. The left side shows a few very fine scratches from the saddle ring but finish is uniform overall. The lever retains perhaps 97% blue toning brown in some areas likely from the factory and very light cycling wear although the bolt retains about 99% blue. The smooth walnut stocks rate fine plus showing a few scattered minor handling marks one scuff shows on the left hand side of butt stock. The carbine is equipped with a standard graduated rear and a plain post front sight. These Browning 1886 carbines are great rifles to use and own and in the hard hitting and versatile 45-70. The overall condition of this Browning carbine is fine to excellent.
